(KSL News) A Utah man is one of the 25 people who died in Friday's deadly train collision in Los Angeles.

Delta Air Lines confirms that Charles Peck of Utah was killed in the head-on crash between a commuter train and a freight train. Peck was a Delta employee.

Federal investigators are playing down a report that the engineer of the wrecked commuter train was text messaging with a teenager shortly before the crash. The teen is among a group of train fans who befriended the engineer and asked him questions about his work.

The train's operator says its preliminary investigation has determined the engineer failed to heed a red signal light, leading to the head-on collision with a Union Pacific freight train. That engineer also died in the wreck.
