Sam Penrod ReportingPeople are still cleaning up from the weekend storm that hit Salt Lake County. Rain and hail hit Saturday afternoon, causing flooding in some neighborhoods. One man nearly had his backyard washed away.
Robert Stroud shot video as Mill Creek, which runs in his backyard, rose by six feet. He and others are concerned with news that another big thunderstorm is on the way.
Robert Stroud, Flood Victim: "I expect some type of amount of the river rising, but not to the extent that happened on Saturday, six feet up the base there of water."
Today he showed us around his backyard.
Robert Stroud: "This bridge was under water, so much debris caught here that the water was flowing over this and back down again and you couldn't see this bridge at all. All of this was rushing water running through here, and you can see the mud through all the debris."
A historic cabin on the other side of the creek suffered the worst damage.
Robert Stroud: "And in here, the water is not quite a foot in size, eight inches, it was coming in through the cracks and other porous area. And the hardwood floors in here are destroyed."
Stroud has lived in his home for five years with no problems at all. Now he's had two storms cause damage, the big one two weeks ago today and then on Saturday. He's hoping the big storms are finally over so he can start rebuilding.
Robert Stroud: "I'm actually here today cutting things up and getting prepared for the storm this evening, because I don't know what we are in for yet."
Fortunately in Stroud's case, he does have flood insurance and with his home video, it's clear to see this flooding was completely unexpected.
