A man is in jail, accused of abusing his baby daughter.

Doctors at Primary Children's Medical Center say the 4-month-old girl had brain and internal organ damage, which are signs of shaken baby syndrome.

Police were called to a home near 800 South and Stubbs Avenue, where the girl was found not breathing and with no pulse. The girl's father told police he awoke from a nap and found the girl turning blue. Officers began CPR on the girl and took her to the hospital.

After the tip from doctors, the father, Victor Gardea, was arrested. An interview with him revealed his actions had caused the injuries to the child. Gardea was booked into the Utah County jail on charges of aggravated child abuse.

The child is currently in critical condition.

There was also a 2-year-old boy in the home. His mother is now taking care of him.
