THE GREAT OUTDOORS — The weather is slowly getting colder and while there isn’t currently much snow in Utah’s mountains, the local ski resorts have announced their opening dates for the upcoming ski season.

Utah boasts "The Greatest Snow on Earth" and is home to 14 ski resorts, 11 of which are within an hour of the Salt Lake City airport. Utah is also home to the largest ski resort in the United States: Park City Mountain Resort. Whether you are wanting to try skiing for the first time this season or are a seasoned veteran, Utah’s ski resorts offer something for everything with their wide variety of locations and sizes. Ski Utah recently announced the opening dates for each of the local resorts for the 2016-2017 season. Here is when you can expect to hit the slopes:

  • Brian Head - Nov. 18
  • Cherry Peak - TBD
  • Brighton - As early as possible, pending snow conditions
  • Deer Valley - Dec. 3
  • Eagle Point - Dec. 17
  • Nordic Valley - Dec. 10
  • Park City - Nov. 18
  • Powder - TBD
  • Snowbasin - Nov. 23
  • Snowbird - Nov. 19
  • Solitude - Nov. 18
  • Sundance - Dec. 9
