BOWL ELIGIBLE — Some college football teams are excited to make the College Football Playoff.
Some are excited to become bowl eligible. Others are just excited a few fans show up to watch them play, and still some are happy to score a touchdown against a ranked opponent.
Here are some of our favorite moments from the weekend on college campuses across America.
Virginia center scores touchdown on fake field goal
Former BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall’s first season at Virginia fell to a 2-5 start with a 35-14 loss to No. 22 North Carolina.
But the Cavaliers found a unique way to score with a staff that included former BYU offensive coordinator Robert Anae and special teams coordinator Kelly Poppinga.

Ref makes best tackle in West Virginia-TCU shootout
There wasn’t a lot of defense featured in West Virginia’s 34-10 win over TCU. To be fair, receivers were making plays like this:

UNLV football hosts attendance record — for Mariachi
The crowd for UNLV’s home 42-23 loss to Colorado State wasn’t going to break any records.
Announced attendance was just 18,362 at Sam Boyd Stadium. But students from Clark County School District attempted to set a world record for the largest mariachi band on the field before the game.
No word from Guinness if they succeeded. But from the looks of it, we’re going to guess sÃ.
