EDGARD, La. (AP) — The unlicensed bus driver involved in an August crash that killed three people and injured dozens in Louisiana has been indicted on three counts of negligent homicide.
An arraignment date has not been set for 37-year-old Denis Yasmir Amaya Rodriguez.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/2ehtVD0 ) a St. John the Baptist Parish grand jury handed up the indictment Oct. 10 for negligent homicide — one for each of the three people killed in the crash, including St. John Fire District Chief Spencer Chauvin.
Police say the bus hit a stopped firetruck and other vehicles on an elevated section of Interstate 10 outside LaPlace, west of New Orleans. Bond has been set at more than $1.7 million. Authorities have said the Honduran immigrant is in the country illegally.
