NEW YORK (AP) — The new musical "War Paint," with stars Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole, will be moving to the bright lights of Broadway.

The musical is the story of cosmetics titans Helena Rubinstein (played by LuPone) and Elizabeth Arden (played by Ebersole), who were fierce competitors as they defined beauty in the 20th century. It was a hit at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago this year.

The musical is inspired by the book "War Paint" by Lindy Woodhead, and the documentary "The Powder & the Glory" by Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman.

The show has a story by Doug Wright, songs by composer Scott Frankel and lyricist Michael Korie, choreography by Christopher Gattelli and direction by Michael Greif.

Previews begin in March at the Nederlander Theatre.
