PROVO — We all knew that the BYU Cougarettes are talented dancers, but who knew that the mascot could bust a move?
Well, he can and people are taking note.
Cosmo made a special appearance in the Cougarettes dance number during Friday’s home football game against the Toledo Rockets. He surprised the fans by learning the choreography and jumping in to join the dancers for the entire song.
The dance was filmed and the video was uploaded to the Cosmo the Cougar Facebook page, where it immediately went viral. As of Thursday afternoon, it had over 1.2 million views and had been featured on ESPN.
“Cosmo is excited that his dancing skills and his love for BYU are going viral,” a representative of BYU Athletics said. “It is an honor to represent BYU as America’s favorite mascot! He’s also glad he was able to keep up with the 16-time national champion Cougarettes and their moves. He couldn’t have done it without them.”
BYU athletics said Cosmo the Cougar has more surprises planned in the season.
