(KSL News) If you plan on driving Highway 89 in Davis County this morning, you may want to leave a bit early.

Reconstruction began yesterday morning, causing gridlock and impacting thousands of commuters.

Driver Mark Murphy says it almost tripled the commute time. He said, "That and it made me late for work, which is money out of my pocket."

A miscommunication within the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) led to not enough open lanes, but today officials say the problem has been fixed.

Along with the road work, there will be periodic closures from Eagle Ridge Drive in North Salt Lake to the I-15 on-ramp.

You can visit UDOT's Web site for the latest information on road closures.
