A single mom in need

Katie B.

"My sister is a single mom with two kids who struggles to give her children the things they need. She does pretty well with the support of her friends, family and her boyfriend. However, she signed her son up for soccer and was hoping to have his dad help buy him cleats. After soccer started, she realized that his dad wasn't going to be able to help, so it was up to her.

"She had taken to social media asking anyone if they had some in her son's size that she could borrow or buy for cheap. A few friends had commented on places that had sales going, but with such a tight budget she couldn't afford them. Knowing that she wasn't going to be able to get them for awhile, her son had been wearing his school shoes (his only pair of shoes) to soccer.

"Sept. 2, she received a call from a local store saying she had a package waiting for her. Confused and knowing it couldn't be hers, she went down to straighten out the confusion. Inside the package waiting for her was a brand new prepaid pair of cleats her son's size and a note that said, 'I hope your sons can use these.'

"The donator is Kyle James. His wife recently passed away in July, leaving him with his own children to take care of. I've recently seen on his Facebook page that this is not his first act of kindness since Jacee passed away. He has been helping other families."

$20 someone else needed

Kaitlin N.

"My dad found a $20 bill in the road while on a run Aug. 27. He picked it up and had the feeling that it didn’t belong to him, so he decided that he’d find someone who needed it. When he got home from his run, he put it in an envelope and took it with him to do his errands for the day.

"After making a couple stops, he decided to grab lunch in Layton. Nearby at Starbucks was a disabled man with a sign asking for some help. My dad got an impression that that was the man who needed the money he had found, so he cut across construction and traffic to gift the man with money. The man was extremely grateful and shed some tears. It left a big impression on our family to listen to promptings and watch for those who need our help."
