LOS ANGELES (AP) — San Francisco hurler Matt Moore came within one out of a no-hitter in Los Angeles. Corey Seager singled with two out in the ninth inning in the Giants' 4-0 victory over the Dodgers that moved San Francisco within two games of the first-place Dodgers.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — In the opener of a four-game series between American League division leaders, it was all Texas as the Rangers posted a 9-0 whitewash of the Cleveland Indians. Cole Hamels allowed only two singles over eight innings for his 14th victory. Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat with Texas.

MIAMI (AP) — It may be too late but the Kansas City Royals are surging, beating the Miami Marlins 5-2 as Edinson Volquez evened his record at 10-10. The defending World Series champions have won 15 of 18 to pull within four games of the second AL wild card spot.

TORONTO (AP) — Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz) reached the 100-RBI mark for the 13th time, the fifth player in history to achieve the feat, Mike Trout had three hits and drove in four runs, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3. The loss prevented J.A. Happ from becoming the first 18-game winner in the majors.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte (LAHK'-tee) continues to be in hot water from his escapades in Brazil during the Olympics. Brazilian police have charged the American gold medalist with filing a false robbery report over an incident in Rio de Janeiro.
