Fire officials say burnout operations to bring controlled fire into Lowman and a nearby subdivision have been successful in burning fuel around portions of the town.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — License plates honoring the 150th anniversary of the Idaho Territory are at risk of disappearing unless more history buffs step up to the plate. The Lewiston Tribune reports that only about 220 of the Idaho Territorial Sesquicentennial plates have been sold each year during the initial three-year grace period, but now that the grace period is over state law requires at least 1,000 plates be sold or renewed each year to keep the design in use.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The Western Governors' Association plans workshops in five states to discuss forest and rangeland management practices and develop a compromise that could include more logging while also preserving forest and rangeland for tourism and recreation. The first meeting is next month in Missoula.

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — More John Does have filed lawsuits against the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, bringing the total number of inmates alleging abuse up to eight. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the latest complaint filed in Ada County accuses former Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections nurse Valerie Lieteau of abusing the boys at the corrections center in Nampa.
