(KSL News) -- The Air Force now knows what caused an F-16 to crash on the Great Salt Lake during a March training mission.
A bearing assembly failure caused the jet to experience a compressor stall, vibrations and loss of thrust.
The pilot restarted the engine, but the jet would not maintain level flight.
The pilot ejected safely. The 28-million dollar aircraft crashed into a dry area close to Carrington Island.
