TOOELE COUNTY — Meteors streaked through the sky near the Grassy Mountains in Tooele County during the Perseid meteor shower on Friday.
How fast are those Perseid meteors traveling? 500x faster than the fastest car in the world! https://t.co/ygm7fsvOFDpic.twitter.com/DfSkQ7BN2q

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak. It is produced by comet Swift-Tuttle, which was discovered in 1862. The shower runs annually from July 17 to August 24. The peak this year was Thursday night and Friday morning.
