SALT LAKE CITY — The Games of the XXXI Olympiad are underway in Rio de Janeiro. Two hundred and six nations, as well as a Refugee Olympic Team, are competing in sports’ biggest stage.

So far, we’ve seen some American athletes bring home gold, including Michael Phelps, Ginny Thrasher, Lilly King and Katie Ledecky.

In this poll, we’re asking you two very simple questions: “Do you prefer the Summer or Winter Olympics?” and “Which is your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?”

For many Utahns, the Winter Games may be their favorite due to our state’s vast winter sport recreational opportunities. But the Summer Games do house some of the more popular Olympic sports, like basketball, track and field, swimming and gymnastics, which former University of Utah Gymnastic Team members have participated in.

There's no wrong answer. Vote now and tell us which Olympics do you prefer and which is your favorite Summer Olympics sport to watch.

Did we forget to mention your favorite Olympic sporting event in our poll? Let us know in the comments.
