LAYTON, Utah (AP) -- A dog owner says police are refusing to investigate three teenagers for shooting his golden retriever with toy guns that fire plastic pellets.
Bob Parrish says he found his 3-year-old dog bleeding from a wound in a hind leg, then raced outdoors to find three boys wielding airsoft guns. One of the boys reportedly said that if they had hit the dog, it was a mistake.
Parrish confiscated the toy guns but was ordered by Layton police to return them.
Police say they don't have enough evidence to link the boys to Wednesday's shooting.
