A freak trailer accident on I-15 created some scary moments and halted southbound traffic in North Salt Lake this morning.
A trailer came loose from the truck towing it.
"The driver's saying that he looked back and saw that his trailer was no longer with him," said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Spillman.
He says the trailer rolled and wound up in the middle of the southbound lanes.
Luckily, no one was killed.
"Yeah, especially with as heavy of a trailer as that was, it's amazing nobody else got hit or hurt or anything else," a motorist said.
The wreck snarled traffic, and sparks sent off by the rolling trailer started a small grass fire. It's all being blamed on an equipment failure. The truck's driver was cited.
