There's a quick break for college students taking both summer and fall classes at BYU. But some students are finding themselves homeless this week.
Kent, a BYU student, said, "[I] didn't have a place to live for like three days. My neighbors next door weren't leaving, just stayed over there and crashed on their couch with all my stuff."
This student isn't in a unique situation. It took just a minute to find a handful of students dealing with a week in housing limbo.
Many of the off-campus apartments use the time in between semesters to clean the apartments and do maintenance. That means a student moving to a new apartment will have to find a place to stay for about a week until their new apartment becomes available.
The students know when they sign their contracts the day they have to get out, and apartment managers say it is the students' responsibility to plan in advance where to stay once their contract is over.
But students like Kent say it's a pain, especially since he had to get out before he finished his final exams.
