RIVERTON, Wyo. — A 19-year-old woman trying to catch Pokemon playing a popular new mobile game caught a major surprise instead.

According to County 10 in Wyoming, 19-year-old Riverton resident Shayla Wiggins was playing Pokemon Go on her mobile phone Friday morning when she found a man's body floating in the Wind River.

Wiggins said she hopped a fence to reach the river because she was trying to find a Pokemon in a water area.

That's when she stumbled across the man’s body floating about three feet from the shore.

"It was pretty shocking," Wiggins told County 10. "I didn't really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away and they came really quickly."

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a press release that the man’s body was found in a river. Officials believed the man’s death was likely accidental, though an autopsy was scheduled.

Pokemon Go, which was released on Wednesday, uses real locations “as inspiration for the fantasy settings in which its games take place," according to a Pokemon/Nintendo website about the game.
