OREM — Children participate in a "boot camp" at the Cries of Freedom, part of this year's Freedom Festival, at SCERA Park in Orem on Saturday.
In addition to the Cries of Freedom, this years festival, which runs through July 4, also includes the Freedom Vehicles Military Outpost, the largest military equipment display in Utah County’s history.
The free display, provided by the Freedom Vehicles Association of Orem, includes 31 interactive events, more than 5,000 military artifacts, and more than 40 vehicles. Freedom Vehicles focuses on U.S. military activity between 1918 and the present.
The Cries of Freedom focuses on historical events that made freedom possible, and a Colonial Heritage Festival focuses on the times and events leading to the formation of our nation.
Attendees can take part in a wide variety of activities, including shooting a machine gun (with parent permission and direct supervision); making custom dog tags; learning Morse code; shooting a candy air cannon; and a kids "boot camp" featuring grenade tosses, a march and building defense walls.
