(KSL News) An accident in Salt Lake this morning sent four people to the hospital.
Troopers say the driver of a black SUV was speeding on the ramp from southbound I-215 to State Road 201 just after 5 a.m. He lost control, the SUV went through the median and hit another car, which sent the SUV rolling.
Sgt. Anthony Carrubba of the Utah Highway Patrol said, "The driver got out. We believe he was looking for some of his personal items that were thrown from the vehicle, he may have been looking for his cell phone. Another vehicle came around traffic, came through the scene and hit the vehicle and the driver."
That driver who was hit was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. Three other people also went to the hospital with minor injures.
U.H.P. is investigating whether alcohol may have been involved in the crash.
