EMERY, S.D. (AP) — The Bridgewater-Emery School District is moving forward with an estimated $4.5 million gymnasium in Emery.
The Daily Republic newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1UbemXK ) that the School Board this week approved a construction contract for the project.
Superintendent Jason Bailey says the move came after three years of reviewing options including a possible new K-12 building that ultimately was deemed to be too expensive.
Officials hope construction on the gym can start in November. It's expected to take 10 months.
The final cost of the project will depend on architectural plans that are still pending.
District officials also want to update the football field in Bridgewater and add a track, but Bailey says those discussions are only in the beginning stages.
