The Today Show has been broadcasting from China since the Olympics began, and the hosts invited our KSL crew in Beijing to spend an afternoon with them.

Not only did we get to hang out with Matt, Meredith, Al, and Ann, but we found some Utah locals who work behind the scenes, too.

Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Ann Curry, and Meredith Vieira each introduced themselves as they walked on the set. The whole gang is here, and they spend a lot of time with each other.

Matt Lauer said, "Back in the states, we go our separate ways. Wait, this isn't so great because now we spend all afternoon together."

The Today Show has a great view of the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. Because of the time difference, The Today Show broadcasts live in the evening in Beijing. Before their show, they had a little fun with us and promoted KSL. Then we talked about how they like covering the Games in China.

Al Roker said, "You see a society, you see a culture you've never seen before. I've never been to China, and I've been blown away by it."

Meredith Vieira said, "I don't care if it sounds hokey. If you don't see the flag come up when somebody like Phelps wins the medal, and tears don't come to your eyes, you're not American."

We also found some Utahns who work in production for The Today Show. One, Nick Thiriot, is a recent graduate of Skyline High School. He's a stagehand. "I make sure Matt and Meredith have everything they need," he said.

Anthony Sozio is from Logan and works audio on the set. "Being in foreign countries for a long period of time is trying, but it's fun. I do have a cool job. I'm lucky, really lucky," he said.

I asked each of them what Olympic event they like most. Ann and Matt like swimming. Meredith and Al like gymnastics.
