DELTA, Millard County — A man was arrested after allegedly sending malicious texts to his estranged wife and threatening a deputy Tuesday.

After receiving the texts throughout the day, the woman was gathering her belongings to stay at another home with her children when Jason Matthew Hull stopped in front of the house, according to the Millard County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy was there to supervise the move, so he reportedly asked Hull to speak with him and exit the car.

“Hull did not comply, but instead, drove away,” a statement from the Millard County Sheriff’s Office reads. “The deputy made a traffic stop and Hull exited his car holding a sawed-off shotgun against his leg. The deputy held Hull at gunpoint while he ordered him to put the weapon down. After a brief discussion, Hull complied.”

Hull was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault against a peace officer, a second-degree felony, and possession of a prohibited weapon, in addition to multiple misdemeanors including electronic communication device harassment, possession of a firearm by an intoxicated person and being an alcohol restricted driver.
