CHICAGO (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced former House Speaker Dennis Hastert to 15 months in prison in a hush-money case that centered on accusations that he sexually abused at least four students when he was a high school wrestling coach. Hastert also must undergo sex offender treatment, serve two years of supervised release after his time behind bars and pay a $250,000 fine to go to a crime victims fund. Before he was sentenced, Hastert told the court that he "mistreated" some of the athletes he coached decades ago and was "deeply ashamed." When the judge asked Hastert whether he sexually abused one specific wrestler, Hastert said yes.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Real estate heir Robert Durst will serve seven years and a month in prison on a weapons charge as part of a plea deal approved today by a federal judge in New Orleans. The judge also fined Durst $5,000 and said that his sentence, once served, would be followed by three years of supervised release. Durst still faces a separate murder charge in California. He's charged with killing a female friend in 2000 to keep her from talking to New York prosecutors about the disappearance of his first wife.

PARIS (AP) — The lawyer for Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam says preliminary charges of terrorist murders and possession and use of bombs and weapons have been filed against the 26-year-old. Abdeslam was captured in Belgium after four months on the run and returned to France today. His lawyer says Abdeslam will explain his role in the Nov. 13 attacks that killed 13 people at a later date.

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkish officials say a suicide attack has hit the northwestern city of Bursa, a popular tourist destination. A statement from the office of the governor of Bursa says seven people were wounded when an explosion ripped through an area that is home to an Ottoman-era mosque and bazaar. The attack comes a day after the United States issued a new warning about "credible indications" of terrorist threats at tourist areas in Turkey.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI says it won't publicly disclose the method that allowed it to access a locked iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino attackers. The FBI says it doesn't have enough technical information about the software vulnerability that was exploited to make it public. The agency says it paid for the method, but didn't purchase the rights to technical details about how the method functions.
