(KSL News) South Salt Lake police set up a sting this afternoon to catch motorists who don't stop for pedestrians.
The man in the crosswalk was actually an undercover officer, and other police were watching closely from behind some nearby trees.
Most of the motorists stopped but not all of them.
Motorist Anthony Higby said, "I accidentally failed to yield to a pedestrian." We asked Higby how he felt about it, and he replied, "More embarrassed than worried."
Police stopped 16 cars and wrote $90 tickets to 15 drivers. They say the real reason for the sting is to raise awareness about crosswalk safety.
