SALT LAKE CITY — We could all use a lift on a Monday, but some days seem too bleak to go right.
Fortunately, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light," according to J.K. Rowling.
If you are in need of some positive vibes today, here are three stories about kindness that may just make your day.
When she forgot her purse
April W.
“Two weeks before my wedding, I went shopping for groceries. I was extremely stressed with normal wedding prep stress while working full-time, but was also dealing with significant health issues.
“I didn’t realize I had forgotten my purse until I got in the check-out line, so I called my fiancé to get his credit card number, hoping I could use it to check out. When I asked the cashier if that would work, she let me know that the person in front of me had paid for everything and left. I was touched that a stranger would see my stress and do that.”

When she needed to do something she hates
Michelle C.
“My bathroom was in serious need of new paint and decor, but if anyone knows me, they know how much I hate painting, so I kept putting it off. I left with my family one weekend, and when I came home, I was surprised with the best present ever.
“My good friend, Jamie, had come while we were gone and painted and decorated my whole bathroom. Such an awesome surprise!! She's such a busy lady, and for her to take the time out of her life to do that for me was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.”
When they just wanted to serve
Gerta P.
“Because of our age and the need for the exterior of our home to be painted, a group of young men and women from California who wanted to do a service project volunteered — along with some adults' (supervision) — to paint. It was a Godsend. Our hearts were cheered for their act of thoughtful kindness.”
