PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A former junior high teacher has been sentenced to 180 days in jail for having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy who was under her care.

A judge also sentenced 32-year-old Jennifer Gonzales to three years of probation and ordered her to complete a sex offender treatment program.

Gonzales pleaded guilty in June to two counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse, a third-degree felony.

She was fired from Mount Nebo Junior High School in Payson after her arrest in March.

The teenager was not one of her students, but was living with Gonzales as a proctor child, similar to foster care.
