All the talk about four-day workweeks has some school districts talking about whether a four-day school week would work. It's working for one but won't work for all.
The Rich School District officials say their trial four-day school week has been great for them. They moved their extracurricular activities to Friday and Saturday, allowing students and teachers in the rural area to be in class more now on Mondays through Thursdays.
Other rural districts have mentioned the four-day idea, but Kane School District Superintendent Bob Johnson says he'd rather cut back on the extracurricular activities and keep students in school five days a week.
"To me, going to a four-day week would be the last option," Johnson said.
Weber and Salt Lake school district officials say their summer four-day schedules are working well for employees. But they and other urban school district officials say a four-day school week would be hard for many parents.
