SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- More counties in Utah are looking at switching to a four-day workweek on the heels of Gov. Jon Huntsman's proposal to do the same for state agencies.
A survey by the Utah Association of Counties indicates that 13 county governments are looking at compressing work schedules into four days.
That means the public on Fridays in those counties will likely go without building inspectors, property assessors, road workers and other services.
Several of the counties said they were prompted to make the change after Huntsman's proposal, which was intended to cut energy costs and save fuel for employees. Most state agencies will begin closing on Fridays starting Aug. 4.
