(KSL News) -- Flames came dangerously close to four homes in Herriman in the middle of the night, forcing residents to evacuate.
Lightning sparked a blaze just after midnight at 15280 S. Rose Canyon Road.
Flames quickly burned through two and a half acres and came within 20 feet of four homes.
Several people and livestock got out safely before firefighters arrived. Once on scene, crews doused the flames, keeping them from the homes.
One mobile home has minor damage on its side.
Crews spent about two hours mopping up the fire and continued to watch the area all night as a precaution.
