OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A bald eagle is being treated for head trauma and broken bones after officials say they believe it was struck by a vehicle in northern Utah.
The Standard-Examiner reports that the eagle was brought to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah on Monday by a couple traveling through from Wyoming.
Executive Director Dalyn Marthaler says it is likely the eagle was struck by a vehicle because all of its injuries are on one side of its body.
This is the first bald eagle to be treated at the center in 2016. Marthaler says eagles rarely come to the center, as there are only about 10 nesting pairs of bald eagles in the state.
