LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas area could be particularly smoky on New Year's Day after kicking off 2016 with fireworks. The Clark County Department of Air Quality issued an air quality advisory in effect tonight, New Year's Eve, through tomorrow.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Health officials say a child from southern Nevada is the fourth person to die from the flu in the state. The Southern Nevada Health District says the child was under the age of 5. A woman over 50 years old also recently passed away in a flu-related death.

MOUNTAIN SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a body was found along a highway near Mountain Springs. The body was found yesterday along State Route 160. The Nevada Highway Patrol says the death appears to be unrelated to a traffic incident. Las Vegas police are handling the investigation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward as authorities investigate vandalism a Las Vegas mosque. The FBI is seeking information on the man seen in a surveillance video putting bacon at the entrances of the Masjid-e-Tawheed mosque, calling it a desecration of the Islamic worship center.
