Colgate tops Lafayette 77-70 in Patriot League opener

HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Dave Krmpotich scored a career-best 17 points and Colgate rallied in the second half to defeat Lafayette 77-70 in a come-from-behind win to open Patriot League play on Wednesday night.

The Raiders (5-7, 1-0) mounted a 10-2 run spanning three minutes in the second half to grab their first lead, 63-61, with 4:29 to play when Austin Tillotson sank a pair of free throws. After Lafayette tied it at 63-all, Colgate closed the game on a 14-7 pace.

Tillotson added 16 points and six assists for the Raiders, who stepped up their field goal shooting from 41 percent in the first half to 52 percent in the second. Colgate also went 24-for-32 at the foul line and scored 19 points off 18 Lafayette turnovers.

Bryce Scott scored 21 points and Nick Lindner 20 for the Leopards (3-9, 0-1), who made just 11 of 30 shots after halftime.
