NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Aaron Bacote scored 20 points and Trey Freeman added 19 Tuesday night to lead Old Dominion to a 68-57 win over Norfolk State.

Brandan Stith grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and Zoran Talley scored 10 points for Old Dominion (7-6).

Freeman made a jumper then a 3-pointer to spark a 10-1 run that put the Monarchs up 22-13 with 11:29 left in the first half, and Old Dominion took a 38-29 lead into the break.

Jordan Butler scored five during a 9-0 run that pulled Norfolk State (5-9) within four with 4:54 remaining, but the Spartans missed their final seven field-goal attempts as Old Dominion closed the game on a 9-2 run.

The Monarchs committed a season-low three turnovers.

Butler and Jeff Short scored 14 apiece for Norfolk State. Butler added seven rebounds and three blocked shots while Short had six boards and six assists.
