HOWELL, Box Elder County — A Preston, Idaho, man was killed Tuesday morning when his truck lost a tire and rolled several times on I-84 in Box Elder County.
Jay B. Heusser, 58, was driving west on I-84 near Howell around 8 a.m. when the front left tire of his 2010 Dodge Ram separated from the vehicle, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
The truck crossed the freeway median into the eastbound lanes, continued to veer off the side of the road and "rolled several times down an embankment," landing on its wheels, the agency said in a statement.
Heusser was reportedly wearing a seat belt, but slipped out of it while the truck was rolling and was ejected. He was killed immediately, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Heusser was the only person inside the truck. The vehicle was transporting two large containers of cattle feed at the time of the crash, police said.
