HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) — Authorities have called off the search for an experienced skier who was reported missing at a ski hill on the Montana-Idaho border. Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman said Friday that the amount of snow at the Lost Trail Powder Mountain ski hill made it virtually impossible to find the man after an intensive search. The skier, 65-year-old Bart Pickard of Corvallis, was reported missing Wednesday.

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — Nampa police say a married couple has been found dead inside their home. KTVB-TV reports that a 90-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman were found dead Thursday in their home. Police are ruling the deaths accidental, saying the couple forgot something was turned on. Police would not say what was turned on that caused the deaths.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Backcountry and snow groomers are installing barricades at National Forest trailheads so trail grooming can begin. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that once the barricades are in place, only snowmobiles and authorized off-highway vehicles will be allowed on the trails.

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — A Pullman native and WSU grad helped create the new Star Wars score. Paul Henning tells The Moscow-Pullman Daily News that working with Academy Award-winning composer-conductor John Williams to create the musical score for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was a long, but gratifying experience. Henning was one of three people entering each handwritten note and musician's performance direction into a laptop computer using electronic keyboards.
