ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) — The "interim" is gone from Ken Van Winkle's job title at the New Mexico State University campus in Alamogordo.
NMSU President Garrey Carruthers has named Van Winkle as president of the Alamogordo campus.
Van Winkle had served as the campus' interim president since May.
He previously was associate dean for strategic initiatives and assessment in the NMSU College of Arts and Sciences.
The NMSU regents on Dec. 11 waived a policy requiring a formal search for the head of the Alamogordo campus.
Earlier this year, a previous formal search concluded without a new permanent president being chosen.
