DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Brian Sullivan scored 20 points with six 3-pointers and Davidson beat Western Carolina 87-54 on Saturday in a Gotham Classic game.
Jack Gibbs scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds with six assists for the Wildcats (7-1). Peyton Aldridge scored 17 with three blocks, Jordan Barham added 12 points, and Oskar Michelsen scored 11.
Up by 15 at halftime, Davidson opened the second half with an 18-9 run in which Barham scored seven points, then led 63-37 after Sullivan hit back-to-back 3s with 9:12 left. Michelsen bracketed a 12-2 run with 3-pointers and Davidson continued to pull away.
Davidson outshot the Catamounts 48 percent to 27 percent and made 20 of 28 free throws (71 percent), but were outrebounded 47-40.
Mike Brown scored 15 points, Justin Browning added 10 and Rhett Harrelson had four assists for Western Carolina (3-6), which was hurt by 13 turnovers.
