PROVO — A Provo man accused of hitting and killing an Orem bicyclist has been summoned to appear in court in January.

Brandon Quist, 27, is charged in 4th District Court with negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, in the death of Stacey Bown.

On Oct. 3, Bown, 51, was killed and her husband, Kevin Bown, 55, suffered critical injuries when they were hit by a Honda Civic while riding bicycles after the vehicle allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of 800 East and University Parkway in Orem.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors. But Orem police said in October they were looking at the possibility of distracted driving.

Quist was summoned to make an initial appearance in court on Jan. 8 and was ordered to be booked into the Utah County Jail and released prior to that hearing.
