SALT LAKE CITY — A 33-year-old man, already on the Utah Sex Offender Registry for a prior conviction, has been charged with new crimes for allegedly abusing a 14-year-old girl.
Jeremy Jay Hardy, of Murray, was charged Nov. 25 in 3rd District Court with sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; sex abuse of a minor, a class A misdemeanor; and enticing, soliciting, seducing or luring a minor by text or Internet, a class A misdemeanor.
Investigators say Hardy met the 14-year-old while working at a 7-Eleven in Millcreek. According to charging documents, Hardy later inappropriately touched the teen in his car.
Prior conviction
Hardy was already on the sex offender registry for being convicted in 2008 of amended charges of two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, a third-degree felony. He was given a suspended prison sentenced and ordered instead to serve 90 days in jail and be placed on probation for three years, which he successfully completed, according to court records.
His initial court hearing for the new charges is scheduled for Dec. 17.
