SOUTH SALT LAKE — Two people were arrested following a bank robbery Tuesday, including the alleged getaway driver — a 13-year-old boy.

About 6 p.m., a man walked into U.S. Bank, 2714 S. 300 West, and told the teller, "Give me cash and no one will be hurt," according to South Salt Lake police detective Gary Keller.

No weapon was seen during the incident.

The man got into a waiting vehicle and drove off, Keller sad. Officers from South Salt Lake and West Valley City were able to track the Ford Taurus to a parking lot at 3528 S. Redwood Road.

After the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle, police moved in and took them into custody, Keller said.

Jorge Hector Zamora, 21, of South Salt Lake, was arrested for investigation of robbery. The 13-year-old driver was booked into juvenile detention, also for investigation of robbery.

Detectives believe the young teen "played an active part in the robbery," Keller said.

He declined to disclose whether Zamora and the boy are related or if they live in the same house, stating only that "they are well known to each other."

Detectives found a mask, clothing and cash from the robbery inside the vehicle, Keller said.

Detectives from other jurisdictions, including the Salt Lake City Police Department, were looking Wednesday at whether the two could be linked to any other recent bank robberies, Keller said. Police were also looking into whether others have been involved in those robberies.

Zamora is no stranger to police. He was arrested in 2014 after leading officers on a couple of chases and rammed a police car during one of those incidents while trying to flee.

He was convicted in 2014 of aggravated assault and failing to stop for police. He was ordered to serve time in the Salt Lake County Jail but then violated his probation after being released, according to court records.

Zamora was charged with burglary and criminal mischief last month in 3rd District Court and posted bond on Oct. 17, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set in that case for Dec. 1. He was also convicted in 2013 of amended charges of two counts of attempted failure to stop for a law enforcer.
