TACOMA — A Washington driver's plan to sneak his way into the carpool lane was foiled when a trooper noticed something a little off about the man's "passenger."

The man tried to skirt the rush-hour pileup near Tacoma by strapping a doll into the passenger seat next to him, according to NBC News. It might have worked, had it not been for the blood-streaked smile, white skin, sharp teeth and yellow eyes.

Not only was the man's passenger fake, it was also a zombie doll.

The pink onesie didn't fool Washington state Trooper Guy Gill, who noticed the hoax and pulled the driver over.

"At least he's in the Halloween spirit," Gill tweeted, along with a picture of the doll.

The man's ghastly gaffe cost him $136. But at least he didn't get in trouble for putting the baby in the front without a car seat. After all, the undead are pretty hard to kill.
