SYRACUSE — Syracuse police are looking for a man they believe tried to lure children to his truck.
Two children, ages 11 and 6, were walking home from school around 3:45 p.m. Monday. They said they were near 1290 South and 1100 West when a man driving a pickup truck pulled alongside them, rolled down the truck's window and asked them if they wanted candy, according to a news release from the Syracuse Police Department.
The children refused and ran to a crossing guard in the area. The truck drove away south on 1000 West, police said.
The truck is described as an older white Chevy Silverado extended cab with a ladder and a hammer in back. It also had Chevrolet logos on the hubcaps and a tinted back window.
The children described the driver as having dark skin and dark hair. He was wearing a light blue shirt and sunglasses.
Anyone with information should call the Syracuse Police Department at 801-825-4400.
