ENTERPRISE, Washington County — Officials have identified the human remains discovered Friday in a remote area southwest of Enterprise, Utah in Washington County.

The person was identified as Cedar City resident Kennard Murray Dixon, 40, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Dixon had been missing since Sept. 25. He was last seen in Las Vegas and was reported missing by family members who couldn't make contact with him.

The remains were discovered around 1:50 p.m. Friday. Sheriff's dispatch received a report from a citizen who was herding cattle roughly nine miles southwest of Enterprise Reservoir in Washington County, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. According to the report, the citizen came upon the remains while moving cattle.

Upon responding to the scene, officers found the remains located in the vicinity of a vehicle with out-of-state license plates, police said. The vehicle appeared to have been involved in a minor accident.

Investigators are still looking at the events that led up to Dixon's death and are waiting for the autopsy results from the Office of the Medical Examiner.

The investigation is ongoing, but initial information does not indicate foul play.
