OGDEN — Nearly 30 Chihuahuas were found in a home Tuesday night where officers were serving a search warrant.
The Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force was conducting an investigation on a house in the 2800 block of Lincoln Avenue and called the Weber-Morgan Metro Narcotics Strike Force for assistance, said Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle.
When officers went inside the house to serve the warrant, they spotted 29 Chihuahuas, Croyle said.
Ogden animal control officers went back to the house Wednesday morning to round up the animals. About 25 of the dogs were sent to the Weber County Animal Shelter. The rest were being treated for various undisclosed injuries at the Ogden Animal Hospital, Croyle said.

Police on Wednesday were still working to determine why the occupants of the house had so many dogs and why they were all Chihuahuas.
The Weber-Morgan Health Department declared the home "unlivable," Croyle said, meaning the occupants could not stay there. However, she said the house was not declared "condemned."
Davis County deputies arrested a 30-year-old man for investigation of drug possession and drug distribution. Drug agents seized approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine, Davis County officials said.
