(KSL News) Graffiti vandals can now be charged with felonies if they're caught spray-painting other people's property.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that police are tired of repeat offenders being charged with misdemeanor after misdemeanor. So prosecutors are digging deep into the criminal statute to charge graffiti vandals with felonies.
If a vandal causes more than $1,000 damage, they could be punished with up to five years in prison. If the damage is more than $5,000, they could face 15 years in prison.
