ESCALANTE, Utah (AP) -- A wildfire that burned more than 1,400 acres near Escalante has been contained.
The Bear Creek fire started Thursday about seven miles north of Boulder.
Crews will now begin assessing the burned areas to determine what will need to be done to prevent erosion.
Though public access has been restored for much of the area, a portion of Forest Highway 166 remains closed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
