PROVO — A man was hospitalized with wounds he received Friday when he was stabbed six times in the neck Friday during a fight over an alleged drug debt, police said.
The stabbing took place in an employee area at the Provo Towne Center Mall. During a fight "over an alleged debt of money and narcotics," a 26-year-old man was stabbed multiple times, Provo police said in a prepared statement. The man went directly to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
Officers were called to the hospital about 12:30 p.m. Friday and spoke with the victim. Detectives subsequently located a man and a woman in Nephi in connection with the stabbing. They were arrested without incident, thanks to assistance from the Utah Highway Patrol, Nephi police, the Juab County Sheriff's Office and Utah County Sheriff's Office.
Dennis Wing was booked into jail for investigation of attempted murder and possession of a controlled substance. Ambri Cazier was booked for investigation of obstruction of justice and theft, according to police.
Investigators said the victim was treated for the stab wounds and was later released.
