SOUTH SALT LAKE — Wednesday's heavy rainfall caused flooding that closed 3300 South near the I-15 overpass in South Salt Lake.
3300 South was closed just before 1:30 p.m. due to the large amounts of standing water under the overpass. Traffic is being diverted and officials are encouraging commuters to take alternate routes. Motorists should not attempt to drive through the pool of water.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says 6 inches of moving water is enough to knock an adult off their feet, 1 foot of water will float a vehicle and 2 feet of water can wash away the vehicle.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
